Ο Στέλιος Ν. Γεωργίου σπούδασε εκπαιδευτική ψυχολογία στα πανεπιστήμια New Jersey City University (BA, MA) και Boston University (Ed. D.). Είναι μέλος του διδακτικού και ερευνητικού προσωπικού (ΔΕΠ) του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου από το 1992. Διετέλεσε Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Κοινωνικών Επιστημών και Επιστημών της Αγωγής, καθώς και Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Ψυχολογίας. Είναι μέλος διεθνών επαγγελματικών συνδέσμων (European Society for Developmental Psychology, International Council of Psychologists) και δικτύων (European network for psychology learning and teaching – EUROPLAT, European research network about parents in education – ERNAPE).
