The Advisory Council of Faculty of Economics and Management of University of Cyprus (Advisory Council) consists of prominent personalities and distinguished professionals of the local and international business world. The Advisory Council serves as an advisory body on any aspect of the School’s strategy such as the implementation of its vision, present and future goals, the pursuit of close collaboration and interaction of academic and business world, as well as the learning experience offered. Therefore, the School receives advisory guidance from individuals with remarkable morals, prestige and experience, whose know-how and skills contribute significantly to the benefit of the School and the students who are the future innovators and entrepreneurs.

Georgiou Rea – Accountant General at Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus
Georgiou (FCA, BA Economics) is the Accountant General of the Republic since 3/11/2010, a post that is specified in the Constitution, managing and supervising all accounting operations and executing all of the financial transactions of the government. The Treasury of the Republic is also the competent Authority on Public Procurement in Cyprus. Rea Georgiou is leading the Public Financial Management reform of the Public Sector. Mrs Georgiou is the President of the Cyprus Public Audit Oversight Authority. She served as President of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus from 2001-2003.

Lenia Iacovides graduated from English School and has a degree in Economics. She specializes in the field of channel development, and linking personnel performance to business strategy. She has a 35-year long experience and expertise in global multinational organizations in diverse markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa and is a valued asset in the Board of Directors of Great Place To Work® Cyprus, an affiliate of a global network. She is a co-Founder and Managing Director of interFRONTIERS, a company which successfully helps to establish multi-national companies in emerging markets and works with them to grow their market presence. Prior to interFRONTIERS she worked as Emerging Markets Director for multi-national companies (NCR, AT&T, Gateway) helping them grow their market share and develop their presence in SEEMEA (South-Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa), from few or no representatives in the region into multi-million Dollar operations. She also worked in London with Moore Stephens, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Kambourides Miltos - Founder and Managing Partner, Dolphin Capital Partners
Miltos Kambourides is the Founder and Managing Partner of Dolphin Capital Partners, specializing in real estate investments and developments. He is also the co-founder of several other ventures including Enthoosia, an experiential entertainment company. Mr. Kambourides was previously a founding partner of Soros Real Estate Partners, a global real estate private equity business, formed in 1999 by George Soros. Prior to joining Soros, he worked at Goldman Sachs’ Real Estate Principal Investments team. He holds three degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering and BS in Mathematics and was a recipient of Fulbright and other scholarships. He has received several business and academic honors and participated twice in the International Math Olympiad and once in the Balkan Math Olympiad (bronze medalist). He travels extensively and has visited so far 139 countries/territories, including the geographical North Pole and Antarctica.

Klerides Takis – Chairman, Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council
Takis Klerides worked with international accounting firms in UK. He joined KPMG Metaxas Loizides Syrimis in Cyprus in 1977 and specialised in banking, finance and insurance. Mr. Klerides became a partner at KPMG in 1982 and remain in this position until 1999 when he was appointed Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus (1999-2003). During his term as Minister of Finance, he was instrumental in the harmonisation of Cyprus legislation with the European Union and major Tax Reform that introduced low corporate and personal taxes. Mr. Klerides is a member of various Boards of public and private companies in Cyprus and overseas, as well as of charitable organisations. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of the UK and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPA). Since April 2013, Mr. Klerides has been the Executive Chairman of business advisory company CMK Eurofinance Consultants Ltd and is a director of a number of companies in Cyprus and abroad. In June 2018 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council.

Rouvitha Panou Rena – Chairman, Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta)
Ms. Rena Rouvitha Panou was appointed Chairman of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) in July 2016, a position to which she was reappointed for a second tenure in January 2019. She is also Chairman of the Management Committee of the Pensions & Grants Fund of the Personnel of Cyta, Board Member of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation and Member of the Advisory Council of the School of Economics and Management, University of Cyprus. In April 2020 Ms. Rouvitha Panou was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Boards of Eurobank S.A. and Eurobank Holdings in Greece, as well as of the respective Boards’ Audit and Nomination Committees. Ms. Rouvitha Panou is a graduate of the English School and holds a B.Sc. Economics degree from The London School of Economics (Metcalfe Scholar), an M.Phil. Economics degree from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Science in Management degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Fulbright Scholar). From 1984 until 1991 Ms. Rouvitha Panou held executive positions in management consulting/financial services in Boston, USA. Between 1991 and 2006 she worked at Laiki Group (with HSBC being the largest shareholder) where she held, among others, the positions of Group Divisional Director, Group General Manager (International and Treasury) and Managing Director Laiki Bank Hellas. She also served as a Member of the Boards of Directors of Laiki in Cyprus, Greece and Australia. From 2008 until 2014 Ms. Rouvitha Panou was Chairman of The Cyprus Development Bank, as well as its Russian banking subsidiary. She was a Member of the Board of Directors of Vassiliko Cement Works Public Company in Cyprus between 2012 and 2014 and an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Boards of Alpha Bank Cyprus (2015-2016), Alpha Leasing in Greece (2014-2020) and Alpha Bank Romania (2014-2020).

Stylianides Christos – Former EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides is a Cypriot politician who served as the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management from 2014 until 2019. In 2014 he briefly served as a Member of the European Council EU Ebola Coordinator. He was elected Member of the European Parliament in the May 2014 European elections where he served until October 31st 2014. He was twice appointed Government Spokesperson of the Republic of Cyprus (in 2013-2014 and in 1998-1999). He was responsible for the management of the Government’s communication strategy and was the head of the Government’s centralized Press and Information Office. During the period 2006-2013 he served as a Member of the Cyprus House of Representatives (elected in 2006 and 2011). During his tenure he served as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs (2011-2013) and member of the Committee on European Affairs, the Committee of Internal Affairs and the Committee of Employment and Social Affairs (2006-2011). Between 2006-2011 he was a member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and he was elected Member of its Bureau in 2012. |

Vakis Demetris – Board Member, Head of Family Business KPMG in Cyprus
Demetris holds a BSc. in Computer Science and Accounting (Joint Honours) and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). He serves on KPMG’s Executive Committee and heads KPMG’s Markets which encompasses marketing and sales support. He has extensive experience both in Audit and in Advisory. He is the president of the Council of ICPAC and one of the four vice-presidents of the Board of the Employers and Industrialists Federation of Cyprus (OEB). Also, he is the President of the Cyprus-Hungary Business Association and a member of the Cyprus Institute of Internal Auditors of Cyprus. Demetris also serves on the Board of the Tech Faculty of the ICAEW.
