1. What courses does the University of Cyprus offer?
The University of Cyprus offers a broad range of programmes of study at the Master (M.A, MSc and M.Eng.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level in a wide range of subjects.

2. What is the duration of my programme of study?
Master Programmes
The minimum duration for the Master programmes is three semesters, and the maximum period of study may be extended, for up to eight academic semesters.
PhD programmes
The PhD requirements must be fulfilled within the period of eight (8) years from the day of admission to the postgraduate programme.

4. How do I apply for postgraduate study at the University of Cyprus? Can I apply on line?
Most applications to the University of Cyprus should be made on the application form found at
http://www.ucy.ac.cy.
Please remember that at least two reference letters are required and the reference form can be also downloaded from the same web page.
For details regarding courses which do not use the standard application form (e.g. MBA program) please visit www.mba.ucy.ac.cy. At the moment, there is no generic on-line application available. To find out more about the admissions procedure visit the relevant section of the Graduate Office web site.
5. Can I apply for more than one course?
Yes, you can apply for more than one course. If the courses are run by the same department, please state the course titles clearly on your application form. If the courses are run by different departments, please make separate applications.
6. Is there a deadline for application?
Yes, there is a deadline for applying to the University. The application form, should be submitted to the Postgraduate Studies Coordinator of the relevant Department by the 15th of April of each year for entry in the Fall Semester, and by the 31st of October for entry in the Spring Semester.
7. What documentation is required when applying?
When applying to the University of Cyprus, you are required to submit:

Completed and signed Application Form.

Curriculum Vitae.

Copies of university degrees or a statement of expected graduation in the month preceding enrolment in the postgraduate programme.

Copies of Transcript/s as appropriate.

A brief statement of personal goals and research interests (up to 2 pages).

Two letters of recommendation in sealed and signed envelopes. Some departments require three reference letters to be submitted with the application, so before submitting your application, please read the Postgraduate Prospectus and any relevant departmental booklet as well as visit the website of the relevant department to find out about the number of reference letters to be submitted. The Department may request additional confidential information from the referees.
8. What are the admission requirements for postgraduate study at the University of Cyprus?
Admission requirements vary depending on the chosen programme of study. In general, all courses at the University of Cyprus require a good undergraduate degree of admission to postgraduate study. Some research programmes also require a postgraduate qualification (i.e. MSc). All applications are considered on their individual merit, taking into account a range of factors including previous academic performance, research or professional experience and references.
Specific entry requirements for individual courses can be found in the Postgraduate Prospectus at http://www.ucy.ac.cy and you are advised to make sure you understand the entry requirement before making a formal application.
9. What are the requirements for a Master degree?
The requirements for the completion of the Master degree are the following:

Class attendance for a minimum of three semesters. The period of study may be extended, for up to eight academic semesters.

Successful completion of 90-120 ECTS at the postgraduate level (75 ECTS for professional programmes or more than 120 ECTS if the programme includes practical exercise), in accordance with the provisions of the programme of studies of the relevant department.

Other criteria set by the department, which may include the submission of a dissertation. Students with a Master dissertation form another Postgraduate programme are not exempted from the requirement to submit a Master dissertation for the current programme. If a dissertation is rejected, the student is allowed to resubmit the dissertation once more. Each Department is responsible for defining resubmission procedures.
10. What are the requirements for a Ph.D. degree?
The requirements for the completion of the Ph.D degree are the following:

Class attendance for a minimum of six semesters. The Ph.D. requirements must be fulfilled within the period of sixteen semesters from the day of admission to the postgraduate programme.

Successful completion of a minimum of 240 ECTS (completion of 60 ECTS at the postgraduate level, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant programme of studies of the department - holders of a Master degree or an equivalent degree may be partially or fully exempted from this requirement, 120 ECTS for the research part of the programme and the remaining ECTS refer to the comprehensive examination, the presentation of the dissertation proposal, the writing of the dissertation, etc)

Success in a comprehensive examination in the sixth semester of studies at the latest. The nature and assessment of the comprehensive examination are regulated by the relevant department.

11. How much does it cost to study at the University of Cyprus?
The fees for postgraduate studies are as follows:
Master degree
-
Master Programmes: Euro 5,125 per programme.

Master in Business Administration (MBA): Euro 10,250
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D) - Since the Fall Semester of the academic year 2010/2011

PhD students holders of master’s degrees: Total fees €4,000
-
PhD students non-holders of master’s degrees. Total fees €6,500
-
Each year of study, beyond the 6 years, with a maximum duration of 8 years (16 semesters) corresponds to tuition fees of €1,250 per academic year (i.e. €625 per semester)

Maximum tuition fees for a PhD degree are €9,000.
If the students wish to suspend their studies, they must follow the relevant procedure of the Postgraduate Studies Regulations.
12. If I am offered a place on a course, when do I pay my tuition fees?
You must pay you fees prior to the registration process. Fees must be paid at the Accounts Office of the University or directly at a bank into the following bank accounts (except the MBA students):

Please note that bank transaction charges and commissions must be paid over and above the tuition fees. A copy of the bank receipt must be included with the registration form.
The deposit of Euro 500 which is paid in advance, is not refundable.
13. What funding opportunities are available for postgraduate study at the University of Cyprus?
There are various sources of funding available at the University of Cyprus. Apart from scholarships offered by the State, the University of Cyprus may subsidize a postgraduate student who offers to work as an assistant in covering the needs of his/her department or other departments. Assistantships may involve assisting in teaching, tutorials, help with assignments, lab supervision, grading, etc. They do not apply to the research activity of the student nor to the research activity of the academic and research staff. Monthly earnings can amount to Euro 342 or Euro 683 for a maximum period of ten months.
14. How much does it cost to live in Cyprus?
Your own expenditure will depend on your lifestyle and the funds available to you. You should expect to spend more than normal in the first couple of weeks, as you establish yourself, but your expenses should soon settle down, allowing you to manage your monthly budget carefully.
Estimated total costs of living for a single student in the city of Nicosia, where the University of Cyprus is located, are between Euro 600 - 770 per month, excluding rent.
15. Does the University of Cyprus offers accommodation to students?
The University of Cyprus offers accommodation in a limited number of single, self-catering study bedrooms in the Student Halls, located on campus and in private apartments located off-campus.
Interested students must complete an application form, found on the web page of the University and send it to the Housing Office of the Student Affairs and Welfare Service. For more information and application forms, students should contact the Housing Office at email housing@ucy.ac.cy
Alternatively, students may search for off-campus accommodation on their own. Around the University, as well as throughout the city of Nicosia, there are several apartments available for rent.
16. How do I obtain the necessary letter from the University of Cyprus in order to apply for my visa?
Students, who have been classified as “overseas”, will receive the necessary paperwork for visa purposes once they have accepted the offer. Otherwise, we advice you to get in touch with the Postgraduate Office at email

1. How do I schedule an appointment?
Either by person or by telephone at 22 89 4053
2. How often and how long will I be seeing the counselor?
It depends on the case and on your personality. At first there will be weekly sessions and then, you and the counselor will agree on the frequency and length of the cooperation.
3. Is there a possibility for the content of the conversations to be known by others?
The content of the sessions is confidential. There are only two possibilities where the content will be known to others. A) If the student’s life is in danger or if another person’s life is in danger by the student. B) If the student’s mental health influences his/her academic performance and wishes for the professors to be aware. The student’s signed consent is required.
1. How do I join a club or become a member of an organization?
A list of all clubs and organizations along with their contact person is available in the Student Life Office located on the ground floor of Anastasios G Leventis Building at the New University Campus. Simply call the contact person for that organization for information on membership and meetings. You can also contact the clubs coordination committee via email at clubs@ucy.ac.cy.

3. Can a student apply for more than one award?
Yes, however you must complete separate forms for each award or scholarship.

2. Does the University help students with financial problems?
Students with serious financial problems can apply for financial aid at the Social Support Office. All applications are examined according to the criteria set out by the board of student welfare fund.

2. Who can use the sport facilities of the University?
All the members of the University Community ( Students , Administrative and Academic Staff )
3. What is the procedure for booking a court?
By calling at the Sports Office at least three days before the reservation.
4. Who can participate at the internal Championships?
All the members of the University Community ( Students , Administrative and Academic Staff )
5. How can i become a member of the University representative teams?
Join the trials at the beginning of a new semester from the coaches.
6. How can I register for the swimming programme and where is it held;
By receiving a special form from the Sports Office and represent it to GINGER Swimming Pool at Latsia
