The mission of the postgraduate programs in CEE is to promote scholarly research leading to discovery, learning and innovation according to international standards of excellence, in the broader discipline of CEE, as well as in related multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. The postgraduate programs are research oriented in order to support and strengthen the research and educational activities of the Department and the university. 

The Department offers eight postgraduate degrees:
– MSc and MEng in Civil Engineering
– MSc and MEng in Environmental Engineering

– MSc and MEng Inter-departmental Program in "Sustainable Design and Energy Technologies"
– PhD in Civil Engineering
– PhD in Environmental Engineering

Nearly all full–time PhD students are financially supported through external research programs.  In addition, the University of Cyprus supports many postgraduate students through teaching assistantships, the number of which depends on the needs of the Department. 

Each student is required to take a number of classes within the CEE Department and conduct research in one of the available research areas:
– Materials and Mechanics
– Structural and Earthquake Engineering
– Construction Management
– Computer–Aided Civil Engineering
– Geomechanics
– Transportation Systems

– Environmental Fluid Mechanics

– Management of Water Resources
– Treatment and Disposal of Solid and Liquid Waste
– Environmental Pollution (soil, water, air)

– Energy Technologies
