ASIMO!! During its visit between May 4-6, ASIMO helped launch a new Honda science scholarship for the University of Cyprus. The Honda scholarship aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in Cyprus and rewards M.Sc. students who excel in the field of Electrical and Computing Engineering at our department. 2nd Annual Robotics Competition The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has successfully hosted its 2nd annual Robotics competition among high school students. 17 teams from 11 schools all over Cyprus participated in the day-long competition which was held at the University of Cyprus. The battles between the robots (whose task was to collect eggs in a 3m by 1.5m arena) were at times exciting and unpredictable. In parallel to the competition, the students and the public had the chance to watch performances by one of the most advanced humanoid robots, ASIMO, of Honda. Open Day The ECE department organizes an open day on Saturday, Dec. 2th. During the event the public will have the opportunity to hear about the programs and activities that take place in our department and learn more about the role of Electrical and Computer Engineers in our society.
