CALL FOR TENDERS
The Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus is proud to announce that it will host the EALE Conference 2011 in Cyprus. The event will bring together all those with an interest in the field of labour economics. The annual conference provides a meeting point where members and top researchers are presenting and discussing their ongoing research.
The European Association of Labour Economists (EALE) has more than 425 members from 25 countries.
The Department of Economics is looking for a professional conference organizer to assist in hosting this conference.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOP
The environmental workshop was organized by the Faculty of Economics and Management on June 9th, 2009, and the environmental workshop was about the "Lack of Water, Waste Surplus: Can afford to save the environment? ‘
The main speaker was Prof. John Livernois, Chair of Economics Department at the University of Guelph in Canada. John Livernois has been teaching in the Department of Economics at the University of Guelph in Canada since 1991. He holds a BA Honours from the University of Toronto (1976), MA (1978) and Ph.D. (1984) in Economics from the University of British Columbia. His teaching and research interests are in the field of natural resources and economic environment with emphasis on taxation, regulation and enforcement. His working papers have been published in academic journals such as: the Journal of Political Economy, the International Economic Review, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and the Journal of Public Economics.

ANNUAL PUBLIC LECTURE OF SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT 2009
The annual public lecture took place with great success on April the 7th 2009 by the Faculty of Economics and Management. Professor Andrew Oswald, University of Warwick in UK, was the main speaker and his speech was about "The Economics of Happiness."
The event was held in collaboration with the Society of Cypriot Economic Research (EKOM) and Bank of Cyprus, in the Hall Solon Triantafyllides of the Bank of Cyprus.

CONFERENCE ON INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
A conference on the Industrial Relations and Collective Contracts in the European Union and Cyprus was successfully held on the 5th of November 2008, at Holiday Inn Nicosia. The conference was organized in collaboration by the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Finance Society of Cypriot Studies. Representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, the Pancyprian Federation of Labor, and the Federation of Employers and Industrialists Federation also participated in this conference.
The main speakers at the event were Dr. Erwan Gautier, from the Central Bank of France, who spoke about the practices in the European Union, the United States and Japan ("Institutional Features of Wage Bargaining in 22 EU countries, the US and Japan"), and Dr. Melanie Ward-Warmedinger by the European Central Bank, who spoke on Part Time issues ("Part-time Work in EU countries: Trends and Determinants»).

ANNUAL PUBLIC LECTURE AT THE SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT 2008
The annual public lecture of the Faculty of Economics and Management was held successfully on May 6, 2008. The main speaker of the lecture was Professor Brian Ferguson from the University of Guelph in Canada, who spoke on "National Health Systems, Incentives, Problems and Practices.”
The event was held in collaboration with the Society of Cypriot Economic Research (EKOM) and the Bank of Cyprus, in the Hall Solon Triantafyllides of the Bank of Cyprus.
