Message from the Dean
“to create an environment that supports high-quality research, teaching and scholarship”
Established in 2001, the Engineering School consists of the following four departments:
1. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)
2. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
3. Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME)
4. Department of Architecture (ARC).
The three first departments (CEE, ECE, MME) admitted the first undergraduate students in September 2003 and produced the first graduates in June 2007. The Department of Architecture accepted its first students in 2005. In fall 2003 we launch the first Ph.D. programs and in fall 2004 the first M.Sc. programs. Currently all departments offer undergraduate programs of study as well as postgraduate programs of study.
Since their creation, the Engineering Departments have expanded rapidly with the recruiting of new faculty and with the admission of increasing number of undergraduate and graduate students. The Departments have enjoyed considerable success in attracting research funding during this period. Through this development phase, we created the laboratory and information technology infrastructure to support our mission of providing high–quality educational and research programs to students.
Our vision is to create an environment that supports high-quality research, teaching and scholarship and to become leading Engineering Departments in the area of SE Europe that are appreciated locally and recognised internationally for high standards in education and research.
Among our objectives and targets are a) to recruit the best available faculty and to create a collaborative environment b) to offer a first class education and training to students that will be recognized by the professions and society c) to build research infrastructure for offering graduate studies and attracting funding for supporting post-graduate students to achieve excellence in research and d) to serve the local society needs in advanced knowledge on high technology and engineering for sustainable developments.
