On behalf of our faculty, administrative staff and students, I would like to welcome you to the website of the Department of Law at the University of Cyprus. The Faculty of Law was established in 2006, aiming to provide high quality legal education for students and the legal community of Cyprus, Greece and Europe. The academic year 2008-2009 marked the beginning of the undergraduate law curriculum, as the first recognized law degree in Cyprus. The Launch of the first law degrees at postgraduate level (LLM, PhD) is scheduled for 2015. Since 2006, the Department offers courses in law and criminology to cross-registering students of other departments of the University of Cyprus as open elective or embedded courses.

The Department of Law is leading the study of Cypriot law and its development in a manner that meets the requirements of modern society and the challenges at international and European level. This is achieved without neglecting our roots and position of Cyprus in the European juridical tradition. The study of law in the department aims at cultivating critical legal thought and the combination of theory, expertise and practical spirit.

Our academic staff is actively engaged in international, European and domestic research activities and programs. In addition to that, the Department plays host to a multitude of public events on a variety of law-related subjects.
