O Κωνσταντίνος Χρίστου είναι ομότιμος Καθηγητής στη διδακτική των μαθηματικών στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Διετέλεσε Πρόεδρος της Προσωρινής Διοικούσας Επιτροπής του Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Είναι πρόεδρος του Κυπριακού Συμβούλιου Αξιολόγησης Τίτλων Σπουδών (ΚΥ.Σ.Α.Τ.Σ.). Έχει εργαστεί ως επιστημονικός υπεύθυνος και συντονιστής σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα που επιχορηγούνται από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας και την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή. Είναι επίσης γνώστης του εκπαιδευτικού συστήματος της Κύπρου και είναι συντονιστής της ομάδας συγγραφή των εγχειριδίων των μαθηματικών και της επιτροπής συγγραφής των νέων αναλυτικών προγραμμάτων των μαθηματικών στην Κύπρο. Διέτέλεσε εθνικός αντιπρόσωπος της Κύπρου στις διεθνείς έρευνες TIMSS 2003 και PISA 2012. Διαθέτει πλούσιο συγγραφικό έργο με περισσότερες από 100 δημοσιεύσεις σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά, πρακτικά διεθνών συνεδρίων και κεφάλαια σε βιβλία που εκδίνονται από διεθνείς οίκους. Συμμετέχει στα Ευρωπαικά προγράμματα KeyCoMath και Didunas. 
 
 
Τα ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέροντά του και πλείστες από τις δημοσιεύσεις του έχουν ως αντικείμενο την ψυχολογία των μαθηματικών, την εφαρμογή καινοτομιών στην εκπαίδευση, τις στάσεις και αντιλήψεις των μαθητών για τα μαθηματικά και την ενσωμάτωση των σύγχρονων τεχνολογικών μέσων στη διδασκαλία των μαθηματικών. Συγκεκριμένα, ενδιαφέρεται για τη γνωστική ανάπτυξη των μαθηματικών εννοιών και για τη βελτίωση της διδασκαλίας των μαθηματικών και των επιδόσεων των μαθητών στα μαθηματικά, μέσα από την ενσωμάτωση καινοτομιών (όπως τα νέα σχολικά βιβλία των μαθηματικών) και των σύγχρονων τεχνολογικών μέσων στη διδασκαλία. Τόσο στις πανεπιστημιακές του διαλέξεις όσο και στις δημοσιεύσεις του έχει ως στόχο τη σύζευξη των αποτελεσμάτων της έρευνας με τη διδακτική πρακτική, που είναι και στόχος του παρόντος ερευνητικού προγράμματος. Προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση έχουν στραφεί και οι τελευταίες έρευνες και δημοσιεύσεις του.
