ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ ΧΑΤΖΗΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ
O Χρίστος Χατζηχρίστος, PhD., είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτονικής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου από το 2003. Βασικές σπουδές στο University of Texas at Austin, (B.Sc. Architectural Engineering, 1986), μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο University of Texas at Austin, (Master in Architecture, 1991) και στο Bartlett του University College London, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο (Ph.D. στην Αρχιτεκτονική, 2002). Έχει διδάξει στο University of Texas at Austin (Teaching Assistant, 1986-1991), στο American University of Beirut, Lebanon (Λέκτορας, μερική απασχόληση, 2002-2003), στο Lebanese American University (Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής, Άνοιξη 2003) και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (Λέκτορας, 2003).
Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα συμπεριλαμβάνουν τη σχέση μεταξύ αρχιτεκτονικής θεωρίας, γνώσης, εκπαίδευσης και πρακτικής, υφιστάμενα και εναλλακτικά μέσα επικοινωνίας στον αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό, τα συντακτικά χαρακτηριστικά του χώρου και κοινωνική χρήση και την κατοικία ως αρχιτεκτονικό και κοινωνικό προϊόν. Με ερέθισμα αρχικά από την ενασχόληση του με τη ζωγραφική, ερευνά την έννοια της Διαστρωμάτωσης στην αρχιτεκτονική σύνθεση και τον πολεοδομικό σχεδιασμό. Ένας από τους οργανωτές και κύριους ομιλητές του 31ου Συνεδρίου του IAPL (International Association for Philosophy and Literature) με θέμα ‘Layering: textual, visual, spatial, temporal’, που φιλοξενήθηκε από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου τον Ιούνιο του 2007. Έχει βραβευθεί σε αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς και συμμετείχε στην Μπιενάλε Βενετίας για την Κύπρο το 2008 και το 2006.
