Profile
Christoforos Hadjicostis received SB degrees in Electrical Engineering, in Computer Science and Engineering, and in Mathematics, the MEng degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1995, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1999, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In August 1999 he joined the Faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he reached the rank of Associate Professor (tenured) with the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Research Associate Professor (tenured) with the Coordinated Science Laboratory and the Information Trust Institute. In 2007, Dr. Hadjicostis joined the University of Cyprus, where he is teaching and conducting research in the areas of systems and control, communications, digital signal processing, and computer systems and networks. From February 2008 to September 2010, he served as Department Chair. His current research interests span the areas fault-tolerant combinational/sequential systems using error control coding techniques; monitoring, diagnosis and control, including model classification and event detection/identification, with applications to anomaly detection and network security; systems and control; discrete event systems; coding and graph theory; and distributed algorithms for monitoring and control.
