Professor Lenos Trigeorgis is the Bank of Cyprus Chair Professor of Finance at the University of Cyprus. He previously taught at leading international universities, including Boston University, MIT, Columbia University, the University of Chicago, and the University of California at Berkeley. He holds a doctorate in Business Administration from Harvard University.

He published widely in numerous journals on corporate finance, resource allocation, competition and strategy, financial risk and distress, and various other topics. Professor Trigeorgis is considered a world authority on managerial flexibility in decision-making under uncertainty (Theory of Real Options). In Wikipedia he is referenced as one of 60 most prominent financial economists in the world. A search in Google reveals more than 30,000 references to his work.

His books have been published by the most prestigious publishing houses, such as The MIT Press, Princeton University Press, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, and others. His first book, “Real Options: Managerial Flexibility and Strategy in Resource Allocation”, published by MIT Press in 1996, is considered path-breaking and contributed critically in the creation, development, acceptance and application of the new scientific field of Real Options. This new theory provides a new valuation, project management and strategic decision-making paradigm that has revolutionized the corporate world through its ability to incorporate management´s flexibility to adapt to change and uncertainty. Real options has now been adopted by most consulting firms and leading corporations and is being taught in many leading universities in the US and internationally (e.g., at Berkeley). His second book, “Strategic Investment” (Princeton University Press, 2004), was awarded by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) in 2004 as the best book in Business, Management & Accounting, and is also considered seminal.

Professor Trigeorgis is the organizer of the Annual International Conference on Real Options (now in its 15th year) and President of the reputable international organization Real Options Group. He has consulted with leading organizations, including McKinsey & Co., Ernst & Young, Accenture, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, British Petroleum, Cable & Wireless, Swisscom, the Fiat Group, Telecom Italia, and the US and UK governments. At the University of Cyprus he has served in the Senate and Council of the University, the Council of the School of Economics and Management, various committees (e.g., Research, Curriculum, Library, etc.). He has been director of the Finance area at the university since 1993, founder-director of the Graduate program (MSc) in Finance and co-director of the Ph.D. program.
