The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cyprus is the premiere research institution in the area of Biology in Cyprus and this is reflected both in terms of publication output as well as funding.
In numbers :
– The department consist of 13 members 5 of which have received prestigious Marie Curie grants from the European commission.
– The department has so far received one prestigious ERC grant.
– Overall the department has so far attracted a total of €11.346.752 in grants.
– Has received €2.918.579 in Research Funding since 2005 from Foreign Agencies, €2.635.579 of those since 2007.
– During the last couple of years the department has published articles in high impact journals, such as one article in Developmental Cell in 2014 from the lab of Paris Skourides, 2 Nature Communications articles in 2013 and 2014 from the labs of Pantelis Georgiades and Yiorgos Apidianakis, a PLoS Genetics in 2014 from the lab of Antonis Kirmizis and a Journal of the American Society of Nephrology from Constantinos Deltas Lab in 2014.
– Has awarded 28 PhDs.
