Announcements

It's a great pleasure to announce that Dr Andreas Dimitriou, who conducted his PhD research in our department under the supervision of Prof. S. Sfenthourakis, was awarded the third prize at the 1st Pancyprian  Environmental Awards Competition of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment. Additionally, Efthymia Stavrinou, who is a recent graduate of our Biodiversity and Ecology program, was awarded the third prize in the Master's category of the same competition, for her MSc thesis conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Professor A. Papadopoulou.

These distinctions demonstrate the high level of expertise of our alumni, and the high quality research in the field of environmental studies conducted in the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Cyprus.

Our department is continuously promoting excellence and innovation, ensuring that our alumni are equipped with all the necessary skills and expertise that are needed in order to contribute significantly to environmental protection and conservation. Andreas' and Efthymia's distinctions highlight the importance and influence of their research in the field of environmental sciences, as well as their contribution to raising awareness on the need to protect our natural environment.

The awards were delivered by the deputy director of the Agronomical Research Institute, Marios Kyriakou, at the presence of the Minister of ARDE, Dr Maria Panayiotou.
