Welcome to the Website of the Twinning Project BRAINN

We are a team of researchers from the Center for Applied Neuroscience of the University of Cyprus and our mission is to understand the impact of COVID-19 on cognitive and mental health. The project Brain Research and Integrative Neuroscience Network for COVID-19 (BRAINN) is conducted in collaboration with research teams from Maastricht University, Ghent University, and King's College London.

We are inviting you to participate voluntarily in the first large online epidemiological study for mental health and cognitive abilities in Cyprus for the purpose of understanding the long-term effects of COVID-19.

What is Our Aim?

  • Our aim is to investigate how COVID-19 affects cognitive performance, mental health, and quality of life in the adult population of Cyprus.

What are the Benefits for You?

  • Get a picture of your cognitive skills.
  • Contribute in the effort to understand the impact of the pandemic on wellbeing.
  • Opportunity to participate in intervention programme.

Who can Participate?

  • Adults of all ages.
  • People who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and people who have never been diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Mother tongue: Greek or English (or fluency in either of the two languages).
  • Prior experience with cognitive tests or assessments is not needed.

Confidentiality is our Priority

  • The security and confidentiality of your personal data is ensured.

How To Participate?

  • Participation is online and involves the completion of questionnaires and cognitive tasks.
  • The total duration is approximately 75 minutes. Please ensure before participating that you can devote sufficient time to complete the tasks.
  • You can participate from your mobile phone, tablet, computer, etc.
  • The study is available in English and Greek. If you would like to participate, please complete the survey and cognitive tasks in your mother tongue. If your mother tongue is other than English or Greek, please participate in the language in which you feel more comfortable.

The research programme has received ethical approval from the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee (ΕΕΒΚ/ΕΠ/2023/40).
