Applications may be submitted either in Greek or English.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Closing date<\/strong>: announced by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/graduateschool\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Graduate School<\/a>\u00a0(in spring for admission in September and in the fall for admission in January)<\/div>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<div><strong>Documents required<\/strong><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Detailed CV and research proposal<\/li>\n<li>Copy (scan) of postgraduate degree\u00a0(MA\/Mast\u00e8re) from a recognised university or statement of expected graduation in the summer or fall preceding enrolment in the PhD programme. After admission the candidate will be asked to show the original.<\/li>\n<li>Copy (scan) and grade of undergraduate university degree.<\/li>\n<li>A transcript and a detailed list of the courses taken by the candidate at the undergraduate and MA levels.<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation from specialists, preferably university professors or renowned researchers.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of the candidate\u2019s MA thesis.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Certificate showing a satisfactory knowledge of one the five international languages of Byzantine Studies (English, French, German, Italian and Russian).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The instructors may also set additional criteria and quality indicators such as: (a) number of candidates\u2019 publications in scientific journals, (b) candidates\u2019 participation in seminars, symposia, research programmes, (c) presentations by candidates at conferences, (d) professional experience, etc..<\/p>\n<p><strong>Admission and Duration of Studies<\/strong><br \/>\nAdmission of new students in September and January. Minimum duration three years.
