Release of the international<\/strong> diamond<\/strong> open access journal <\/strong>Eventum: A Journal Of Medieval Arts & Rituals<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Centre for Medieval Arts and Rituals (CeMAR) of the University of Cyprus is delighted to announce the publication of the inaugural issue of its annual international interdisciplinary diamond open access journal, Eventum: A Journal of Medieval Arts and Rituals<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The articles of the first issue of Eventum<\/em><\/a> entitled “The Arts and Rituals of Pilgrimage” examine the relational and complex practice of pilgrimage showing that its power and efficacy did not only emanate from its associated rituals, but also from its arts. The issue\u2019s authors are both established scholars and young researchers specializing on pilgrimage.<\/p>\n

Eventum<\/em>, which is published by the Milano University Press, constitutes a significant deliverable of the H2020 project “Network for Medieval Arts and Rituals” (NetMAR; Grant Agreement no. 951875) which is coordinated by CeMAR. Eventum<\/em> aims to reposition the arts and rituals of medieval traditions and to provide an international and congenial forum for the presentation and discussion of research on: (1) all medieval arts in<\/em> and as<\/em> rituals; and (2) the initiators, participants, spaces, forms, structures, and artistic dimensions of all medieval rituals. Furthermore, Eventum provides a platform for the examination of the relationship between medieval, later, and contemporary arts and rituals, bringing to the fore the rich cultural heritage of the Middle Ages for a better understanding of both the past and the present.<\/p>\n

The research promoted by Eventum<\/em>, which aims at publishing the best new scholarship in a transparent, egalitarian, and efficient way, is situated at the crossing of various disciplines: history, archaeology, art and architectural history, philology, literature, linguistics, philosophy, theology, anthropology, musicology, and theatre studies. In short, this new journal reaches out to international scholars from all these fields including late antique, medieval, early modern, modern, and postmodern studies, ritual studies, performance studies, cultural studies, and cultural heritage studies, inviting contributions from around the world.<\/p>\n
