The 1st European Coding Challenge powered by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) will take place on Friday, 20 May 2022 at Hilton Hotel Nicosia from 09:00-17:00.
During the workshop participants will learn more about the Huawei Mobile Services and HMS Core whichย offers a rich array of open device and cloud capabilities that facilitate efficient development, fast growth,ย and flexible monetization. This enables global developers to pursue groundbreaking innovation, deliver next-level use experiences,ย and make premium content and services broadly accessible.

All participants should:
- Bring their own laptop
- have at least one-year experience of Java or Kotlin programming
- Have experience in Android Studio mobile application development environment (if not, it is suggested that you first explore the Android Studio environment and successfully complete at least one simple demo before this training)
Preparation Instructions
Prior to the workshop all participants should:
- Install Android Studio
- Install AppGallery
- Install HMS Core from AppGallery on their smartphones in order to run demos

The Confucius Institute (IK) at the University of Cyprus is pleased to announce its participation in the 7th Nicosia Book Festival 2022 on 22-23 October 2022 at Acropolis Park.
The IK operated a booth at the Festival site, where there was informational material about the courses and activities it offers. Visitors had the opportunity to take part in Chinese Calligraphy, Paper-Cutting classes and taste Chinese tea after watching the famous tea-making ritual.
On Sunday, October 23 at 14:00 you could watch on stage a presentation of the traditional Chinese Martial Art Tai Chi.

Mr. Xiao Junzheng, Ambassador of China to Greece, as well as Mr. Zhao Qi, Secretary General of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will welcome the event on behalf of the People's Republic of China.
Greetings will be addressed by the Minister of Development and Investments Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy and External Affairs Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis and Mr. Georgios Iliopoulos, Ambassador of Greece in Beijing. The keynote speakers of the event are Mr. Feng Zhongping, Director of the Institute of European Studies (CASS) and President of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Think Tank Network and Mr. Loukas Tsoukalis, Om. Professor at the University of Athens, Professor at the Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences Po) and President of ELIAMEP.
