respective questionnaire. The evaluation is obligatory since December 2000, but its results are not public or given to the students but also not taken into consideration for the teachers&#8217; promotion procedures for the time being. The review team recommends that the evaluation of teaching should be improved and should become one of the main processes assuring the quality of education at the UCY. But, besides, we have to note the general trend in Europe giving emphasis on learning instead of teaching. We are in a phase of transition from the teacher-centred to the student-centreduniversity education. In this new era, the students have to take much greater responsibility for their own education. The UCY has to adapt to this new realm and to re-examine the learning methods and the organisation of studies. Although some of them may not be as mature as one would like, in this concept, students have to be considered as grown-up academic citizens instead of being treated like yesterday&#8217;s secondary school pupils&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u03a3\u03b5 \u03c3\u03c7\u03ad\u03c3\u03b7 \u03bc\u03b5 \u03c4\u03b9\u03c2 \u03c3\u03c5\u03bd\u03ad\u03c0\u03b5\u03b9\u03b5\u03c2 \u03c4\u03b7\u03c2 \u03b1\u03be\u03b9\u03bf\u03bb\u03cc\u03b3\u03b7\u03c3\u03b7\u03c2 \u03b1\u03c0\u03cc \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2 \u03c6\u03bf\u03b9\u03c4\u03b7\u03c4\u03ad\u03c2, \u03b7 <a href=\"documents\/telece\/EUAFollow-upReportFinal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ad\u03ba\u03b8\u03b5\u03c3\u03b7<\/a> \u03b1\u03bd\u03b1\u03c6\u03ad\u03c1\u03b5\u03b9:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We further want to stress a little more on the teaching evaluation process. The issue usually raised concerns the consequences of this process. The SER states that the questionnaires will be available to the selection boards that will judge the academic staff members for their promotion. However, this is a consequence which has to be handled with care. But, moreover, if the results of the teaching evaluation procedure are not adequately exploited, if they are not analysed properly and integrated into the continuous improvement of the content and the methods of teaching and learning, then it is probable that the teaching evaluation process will degenerate into a bureaucratic and meaningless operation. Therefore, we recommend the UCY to pay increased attention to the teaching evaluation process and to organise and systematise it as soon as possible.
