My research is based on a multi-scale geoarchaeological approach in arid and semi-arid environments in the Mediterranean and Near East. Geoarchaeology combines observations from the environment and landscape on which an archaeological site is founded with the microscopic characterization of modes of occupation of a site. The main focus of my research is:

1. The characterization of the environmental and topographical context on which prehistoric societies were settled: using mainly alluvial geomorphology, I aim to reconstruct the environment and landscape before and during human occupation of the area. The main goal is to understand interactions between societies, soil and environment in diachronic scale and define the human impact on the landscape and soils.
2. The “anthropisation” of soil around an archaeological site as it can record human activities: human activities can be related to the use of soils for site foundations and construction but also for agricultural purposes. The degree of “anthropisation” can be varied in different periods and societies.
3. The characterisation of earthen construction techniques (walls and floors) from the Neolithic (PPN) to the Late Bronze Age. The characterisation of earthen architecture reveals information on the chain of operation of earthen construction, from the collection of raw materials to the implementation of architectural parts. The chain of operation for earthen architectures can shed light on the social behaviour of societies.
4. The study of floors and the activities that occurred on them provides information on the socio-economic system of prehistoric and protohistoric societies.
