He hοlds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD in Economics from Yale University. He has worked as a researcher at the World Bank. He has taught at Yale University and the European University Institute and was a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University. He is currently a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Senior Fellow at the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis. Ηe teaches Industrial Organization, History of Economic Thought, and Microeconomics.
 
As of December 2021 he is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management.
 
His primary field is empirical industrial organization; he has worked on pricing, price discrimination, information intermediation and quality assessment. He has also done work on international trade issues such as the link between exporting and productivity and international trade in used goods. He has written several policy papers on the Cyprus economy, including a few on the recent financial crisis. He is currently working on consumer behavior in markets for durable and storable goods.
