Adam Gemar is a Lecturer in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus. Before joining the University of Cyprus, Adam was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at HSE University in Moscow, Russia, and received degrees from Durham University (PhD-2020), the London School of Economics (MSc), Yale University (MA), and Fordham University (BS). A sociologist by discipline, Adam’s research interests primary focus around social inequalities, particularly social class, but also gender, race, and geography, and how they manifest in the areas of culture, sport, religion, and education. His research thus far has appeared in the International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Canadian Review of Sociology/Revue Canadienne de Sociologie, Leisure Studies, European Physical Education Review, Leisure/Loisir, World Leisure Journal, and the Encylopedia of Violence, Peace & Conflict.
