Christos Nicolaides is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Business and Public Administration at the University of Cyprus (UCY). He also holds secondary appointments as a Digital Fellow at the Initiative on the Digital Economy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Guest Lecturer at the Management Science and Operations department at London Business School.  Christos is currently serving as the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at UCY.

Beyond academia, Christos serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Jinius and an Advisor to LASSO.

Before joining UCY, Christos spent three years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management, funded by the James McDonnell Foundation. He holds a PhD in Engineering from MIT, an MSc in Applied Mathematics from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Physics from the University of Thessaloniki.

His research focuses on applying mathematical, statistical, and computational tools to large-scale empirical and data-driven research questions, with applications in the identification of social influence mediated, amplified, or directed by interactive technologies. He has collaborated with global firms on realizing business value from social media and information technology investments. His research has been published in leading scientific journals, including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Nature Communications, and has been featured in outlets such as The New York Times, CNN, and the Los Angeles Times. In 2020, Christos was named “Professor of the Week” by Poets & Quants.

He is the principal institutional investigator on research projects funded by the European Commission, industry, the Cyprus Innovation and Research Foundation, and the Cyprus Ministry of Health, attracting more than €1M in research funding for his institution.
