D. in Linguistics and Women's studies, 1999). She has taught at Simon Fraser University, Canada (1991-1992), the University of California, Berkeley, United States (1992-1993), the University of Toronto (1995-2000). She teaches at the University of Cyprus since 2000. She was an invited researcher at the University of Toronto (Spring semester 2005),  at the A.T.I.L.F. research unit in Corpus Linguistics  and Lexicology (University Lorraine, France) in 2007 and in 2009.

The ARENAS project looks at extremist narratives that affect political and social life in Europe. It examines the nature of these narratives and seeks to understand the discourses they impact, particularly about science, gender and the nation. By understanding how these narratives work, ARENAS will empower people to resist them. To foster a spirit of people living together in harmony across Europe, policy recommendations will be made as to how to prevent such narratives from taking hold in the future.

It was the first time UCY was coordinating a Social Justice program
The project gathered 7 NGOs and 5 universities.It combined research on hate speech via social media and social actions.  Social actions included media events, round tables and training for law enforcement, media and the youth.
The training were carried out with one Cypriot NGO.We carried out the research part of online data and of interviews. We also organized media events publicly attended whether at the University, at the EU house, or at different NGOs eventsA final conference allowed to disseminate the results and have major publications  such as the Springer volume available on lineTwo Master students were hired in the programme to help in the administration and to carry out research (we published in the Springer book 2 chapters as a team)
