Είναι η ιδρύτρια και διευθύντρια της Ερευνητικής Μονάδας για Μεσαιωνικές Τέχνες & Τελετουργίες (ΕΜοΜεΤ, https://www.ucy.ac.cy/cemar/?lang=el ). Επιπλέον, είναι η δημιουργός και η αρχισυντάκτρια του διεθνούς επιστημονικού περιοδικού ανοικτής πρόσβασης Eventum: A Journal of Medieval Arts & Rituals (https://riviste.unimi.it/index.php/eventum), καθώς επίσης και η δημιουργός του NetMAR Blog: A Blog on Medieval Arts & Rituals (https://www.ucy.ac.cy/netmar/blog/). Είναι επίσης μέλος του Ευρωπαϊκού Πολιτιστικού Κοινοβουλίου (http://www.kulturparlament.com/members/members/). Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου διδάσκει Βυζαντινή Φιλολογία από το 2004.
 
Έκανε τις βασικές της σπουδές στο Πανεπιστήμιο Kύπρου (BA στη Βυζαντινή και Νεοελληνική Φιλολογία, 1992-1996). Mεταπτυχιακές σπουδές έκανε στο Freie Universität Berlin (MA στη Bυζαντινή Φιλολογία, 1997-1999) και στο Cambridge University (MPhil στην Eυρωπαϊκή Λογοτεχνία, 1999-2000). Tον Iούλιο του 2003 υποστήριξε στο Freie Universität Berlin τη διδακτορική της διατριβή στο αντικείμενο της βυζαντινής φιλολογίας. Οι σπουδές της έχουν χρηματοδοτηθεί από το Aridemi Foundation, το Ίδρυμα Λεβέντη, το γερμανικό κράτος, το Cambridge Commonwealth Trust και το Ελεύθερο Πανεπιστήμιο του Βερολίνου.
 
Υπήρξε ερευνητική υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Alexander von Humboldt (2010-2011) και του Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection (2024). Επίσης, υπήρξε συντονίστρια των ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων: Γαλακτοφόροι Μαστοί: Μητρότητα και Θηλασμός από τους Ελληνιστικούς στους Πρώιμους Βυζαντινούς Χρόνους, 4ος αι. π.Χ.- 7ος αι. μ.Χ. (ΜητρικόΣτήθος) (https://www.ucy.ac.cy/motherbreast/?lang=el) και Τύποι Αφηγήσεων σε Συλλογές: Προς μια Θεωρία της Αρχαίας και Βυζαντινής Σύντομης Διήγησης, 2ος-7ος αι. μ.Χ. (TaleTheory) (https://www.ucy.ac.cy/taletheory/?lang=el), τα οποία χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης και την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία μέσω του Ιδρύματος Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας (ΙδΕΚ). Έχει, επιπλέον, συντονίσει το ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα Network for Medieval Arts and Rituals (https://www.ucy.ac.cy/netmar/) στο πλαίσιο του οποίου η Ερευνητική Μονάδα για Μεσαιωνικές Τέχνες και Τελετουργίες (ΕΜοΜεΤ) συνεργάστηκε με το Centre for Medieval Literature του Πανεπιστημίου της Νοτίου Δανίας και το Zentrum für Mittelalterstudien του Πανεπιστημίου Bamberg στη Γερμανία. Τώρα συντονίζει ένα πρόγραμμα Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Doctoral Networks του Ορίζοντα Ευρώπη που φέρει τον τίτλο Storytelling as Pharmakon in Premodernity and Beyond: Training the New Generation of Researchers in Health Humanities (StoryPharm) με στρατηγικούς εταίρους τα πανεπιστήμια Bamberg (Γερμανία), Lund (Σουηδία), Salerno (Ιταλία) και Cardiff (ΗΒ).
