ΜΙΧΑΛΗΣ ΜΙΧΑΗΛ
Αποφοίτησε από το Τμήμα Τουρκικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου το 1996 (BA) και από το Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Τουρκολογίας του Τμήματος Ιστορίας – Αρχαιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης το 1998 (MA). Εκπόνησε τη διδακτορική του διατριβή με θέμα: Η διαδικασία συγκρότησης ενός θεσμού εξουσίας. Εκκλησία της Κύπρου 1754 – 1910, στο Τμήμα Τουρκικών και Μεσανατολικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου το 2004 (PhD). Είναι ο συγγραφέας των βιβλίων: Η Εκκλησία της Κύπρου κατά τη διάρκεια της οθωμανικής περιόδου: η σταδιακή συγκρότηση ενός θεσμού πολιτικής εξουσίας (Κέντρο Επιστημονικών Ερευνών, Λευκωσία 2005). Οι εξεγέρσεις ως πεδίο διαπραγμάτευσης της εξουσίας. Οθωμανική Κύπρος, 1804-1841 (Αλεξάνδρεια, Αθήνα 2016) και επιμελητής των βιβλίων Ottoman Cyprus. Είναι αναπληρωτής καθηγητής οθωμανικής ιστορίας στο Τμήμα Τουρκικών και Μεσανατολικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου.
Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται: α) στην ιστορία της Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας και των θεσμών της, β) στην ιστορία της Κύπρου κατά την οθωμανική περίοδο με έμφαση στο καθεστώς της Εκκλησίας της Κύπρου, γ) στη μετάβαση από την οθωμανική επικράτεια στη βρετανική αποικιοκρατία και τις αλλαγές κυρίως σε σχέση με το καθεστώς της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας, δ) στην επεξεργασία αρχειακών κειμένων, μελέτη εγγράφων και κωδίκων της οθωμανικής περιόδου της ιστορίας της Κύπρου, ε) στην ανάλυση της μετα-οθωμανικής κυπριακής ιστοριογραφίας για την οθωμανική περίοδο.
