Born in Graz, Austria, she obtained her M.A. (Magister phil.) in Classics from the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz in 2005 and her PhD in 2011 from the LMU Munich, Germany, with a thesis on Martial's epigrams (published as "Martials Dichtergedichte. Das Epigramm als Medium der poetischen Selbstreflexion", Tübingen 2012). In Munich she was a member of the interdisciplinary graduate-program “Textualität in der Vormoderne” from 2007-2008 and thereafter a member of staff in the Classics Department from 2008-2013. In March 2013 she joined the Department of Classics at the University of Salzburg, Austria, where she held a position as a postdoctoral researcher and as the principal investigator of a projecte entitled "Embedded poems in ancient prose letters" funded by the Austrian Scienece Fund (FWF). From 2012 to 2015 she also worked as a teaching fellow at the Classics Department of the University of Graz. In May 2019 she completed her habilitation at the University of Salzburg with a monograph on Pliny the Younger's narrative strategies in his letters (published as "Epistolare Narrationen. Studien zur Erzähltechnik des jüngeren Plinius", Tübingen 2021). In August 2019 she was appointed as Assistant Professor of Latin at the Department of Classics and Philosophy at the University of Cyprus. In summer 2024 she has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
