ΘΕΜΙΣΤΟΚΛΗΣ ΧΑΡΑΛΑΜΠΟΥΣ

Η κύρια ερευνητική του δραστηριότητα επικεντρώνεται στον σχεδιασμό, την ανάλυση και τη βελτιστοποίηση (ασύρματων) δικτυωμένων συστημάτων ελέγχου, τα οποία είναι σταθερά, επεκτάσιμα, ενεργειακά αποδοτικά και ανθεκτικά σε αβεβαιότητες. Τα συστήματα αυτά βρίσκονται στη διασταύρωση δυναμικών συστημάτων και δικτύων επικοινωνίας, όπου η απόδοση και η αξιοπιστία εξαρτώνται από την αποτελεσματική ενοποίηση ελέγχου, υπολογισμού και επικοινωνίας.
Η προσέγγισή του είναι διεπιστημονική, συνδυάζοντας ισχυρά θεωρητικά θεμέλια με πρακτικές εφαρμογές. Αντλεί μεθόδους και εργαλεία από τη θεωρία ελέγχου, τις ασύρματες επικοινωνίες, τη θεωρία δικτύων και τη κατανεμημένη βελτιστοποίηση, ενώ ενσωματώνει και στοιχεία μηχανικής μάθησης και ανάλυσης δεδομένων. Μέσω αυτής της ολοκληρωμένης προσέγγισης, η έρευνά του στοχεύει στην ανάπτυξη συστημάτων επόμενης γενιάς με αυξημένη ευφυΐα και αυτονομία, με εφαρμογές σε κυβερνο-φυσικά συστήματα, έξυπνες υποδομές και συνεργατικά πολυπρακτορικά συστήματα.
