ΘΩΜΑΣ ΠΑΠΑΔΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ

Ο Θωμάς Παπαδόπουλος είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Εμπορικού Δικαίου στο Τμήμα Νομικής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Διετέλεσε Λέκτορας Εμπορικού Δικαίου από το 2016 έως το 2019 και Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Εμπορικού Δικαίου από το 2019 εώς το 2024 στο Τμήμα Νομικής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Έλαβε Διδακτορικό Δίπλωμα Νομικής (DPhil in Law) από τη Νομική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο (2010). Έλαβε, επίσης, Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Νομικής (MJur/LLM, 2006) και Ερευνητικό Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Νομικής (MPhil in Law, 2007) από τη Νομική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης. Είναι αριστούχος και πρωτεύσας απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Νομικής του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης (2005). Είναι αριστούχος απόφοιτος του 1ου Γυμνασίου και του 1ου Λυκείου του Αμερικανικού Κολλεγίου Ανατόλια Θεσσαλονίκης (2001).
Διετέλεσε επισκέπτης ερευνητής στη Νομική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Χάρβαρντ, στο King’s College London και στο Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. Ακόμη, διδάσκει ως Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής στο Διεθνές Πανεπιστήμιο Ελλάδος και ως μέλος ΣΕΠ στο Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Επιπλέον, είναι μέλος της συντακτικής επιτροπής του περιοδικού European Company Law (ECL) Journal, που εκδίδεται από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Kluwer, και μέλος της συντακτικής επιτροπής του περιοδικού European Company Case Law (ECCL) Review, που εκδίδεται από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Nomos. Είναι νομικός εμπειρογνώμων-εθνικός ανταποκριτής για το Κυπριακό δίκαιο στο European Model Company Act (EMCA) Group, στο Common European Law on Investment Screening (CELIS) Institute, στο Covid-19 Litigation Project του Πανεπιστημίου του Trento στην Ιταλία και σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα του European Trade Union Institute (ETUI). Είναι ερευνητής στο ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα «Corporate Governance: Sustainability, ASG/ESG Factors and Reputation (CORPGOVESG)» της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστήμιου San Pablo-CEU της Ισπανίας και του Υπουργείου Επιστήμης και Καινοτομίας της Ισπανίας. Επίσης, είναι μέλος του ακαδημαϊκού συμβουλίου του European Banking Institute (EBI). Ήταν μέλος της επιστημονικής επιτροπής του TRAIL training programme, το οποίο χρηματοδοτήθηκε από την ΕΕ (Train in your language: multilingual transnational training in EU civil and commercial law –TRAIL). Είναι Δικηγόρος Ελλάδος.
Του απονεμήθηκε το «Κυπριακό Βραβείο Έρευνας – Νέος Ερευνητής 2014» για τη θεματική ενότητα «Κοινωνικές και Ανθρωπιστικές Επιστήμες» από το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας (ΙΠΕ) της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας. Η διάκριση αυτή του απονεμήθηκε για την έρευνα του σχετικά με τις δημόσιες προτάσεις εξαγοράς και τις συγχωνεύσεις εταιρειών και συνοδεύτηκε από ερευνητική χορηγία για σκοπούς συνέχισης της έρευνας. Διετέλεσε Συντονιστής του Ερευνητικού Προγράμματος με τίτλο «Takeovers and Mergers in European, Cypriot and Greek Company Law», το οποίο χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας (ΙΠΕ) της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας (2015-2017).
Είναι ο συγγραφέας της παρακάτω μονογραφίας, η οποία εκδόθηκε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Kluwer: «EU Law and the Harmonization of Takeovers in the Internal Market, 2010, Kluwer». Επιπλέον, επιμελήθηκε τον παρακάτω συλλογικό τόμο, ο οποίος εκδόθηκε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Springer: «Cross-Border Mergers - EU Perspectives and National Experiences, 2019, Springer». Επίσης, συνεπιμελήθηκε τον παρακάτω συλλογικό τόμο, ο οποίος εκδόθηκε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Springer: «Weaponising Investments: Collected Papers on the Law and Geoeconomics of Foreign Capital (συνεπιμέλεια με Jens Hillebrand Pohl, Joanna Warchoł, Janosch Wiesenthal), Τόμος I, 2023, Springer». Πολλά άρθρα του έχουν δημοσιευθεί σε κορυφαία διεθνή νομικά περιοδικά. Παρουσίασε την έρευνά του σε πολυάριθμα διεθνή συνέδρια και έδωσε προσκεκλημένες διαλέξεις σε πολλά ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα του εξωτερικού. Έχει διατελέσει Επίκουρος Καθηγητής (2015), Λέκτορας (2012-15) και Επιστημονικός Συνεργάτης Εμπορικού Δικαίου (2011-12) στο Τμήμα Νομικής του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Επίσης, έχει διατελέσει Διδάσκων (ΠΔ 407/80) στο Τμήμα Περιφερειακής Οικονομικής Ανάπτυξης του Πανεπιστημίου Στερεάς Ελλάδας και μέλος ΣΕΠ στο Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο. Έχει διατελέσει Λέκτορας (part-time Lecturer) στη Νομική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Buckingham στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και Διδάσκων (Law Tutor) στο Oxford University Programme for Undergraduate Studies (OPUS) του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης. Επιπλέον, έχει διδάξει στο Τμήμα Στατιστικής και Ασφαλιστικής Επιστήμης του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιά.
Έχει διατελέσει Ακαδημαϊκός Συντονιστής (Academic Student Coordinator) του Financial Law Discussion Group της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστήμιου της Οξφόρδης. Στη διάρκεια των σπουδών του, έλαβε υποτροφίες από το Ίδρυμα Α. Γ. Λεβέντη, από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης, από το Ελληνικό Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών (υποτροφίες ΝΑΤΟ), από το Ίδρυμα Δεσποτίδου-Τσάγκα και από το Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών Ελλάδος (ΙΚΥ). Στη διάρκεια της στρατιωτικής του θητείας, διετέλεσε Βοηθός Νομικός Σύμβουλος (LEGAD) στο Στρατηγείο ΝΑΤΟ Θεσσαλονίκης/ Γ’ Σώμα Στρατού (NATO Deployable Corps Headquarters- NDC-GR). Συμμετείχε με διαλέξεις σε σεμινάρια τεχνικής βοήθειας και ανταλλαγής πληροφοριών(Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX)), που διοργανώθηκαν από τη Γενική Διεύθυνση Διεύρυνσης της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής.
