Teaching and research

I've been a staff member with the Language Centre since 2009.  My expertise lies in collaborative learning in the language classroom and in curriculum development of specific/professional purposes courses while research interests revolve around zones of proximal development, wider Vygotskian perspectives in socio-constructivist theorizing, Flipped Learning and educational applications of Generative AI. I have designed courses for special/occupational purposes (e.g. English for the Workplace) and have presented related work and research in numerous international conferences.  I have participated in Erasmus+ teaching exchanges and have also attained an in-service training Grundtvig grant.  Beyond the Language Centre, I regularly offer intensive courses via the University's Centre for Teaching and Learning and I have been a trainer in University seminars and workshops with the Lifelong Learning Centre. I also collaborate with the Department of Computer Science’s SEIT lab in EU co-funded projects (DigiComPass, Beyzo, Dig-It, JobJo).  I have been coordinator of the Centre’s English section for the years 2016-2018 and 2019-2023 and coordinator of the Adult Education Program (2018-2019).  In 2022 I was shortlisted for the University's biannual Teaching Excellence Award.
