 Undergraduate  studies at the University of Ioannina (Bachelor of Mathematics 1991), postgraduate studies at the University of Maryland, USA. (M.A. 1993 and Ph.D., 1996, Statistics). He has taught at Ohio State University, USA (Visiting Assistant Professor), at the University of Cyprus (Lecturer, 1999-2001, Assistant Professor, 2001—2006, Associate Professor, 2006-2011 and Professor since 2012) and at Lancaster University (during  2018-2020). He has visited Ludwig Maximilians University, National Institutes for Health, EPFL, Cergy-Pontosie University, University of Bergen and TU Dortmund. He is an ASA Fellow,  elected member of ISI
and a member of the editorial team of  International Statistical Review, Statistical Modeling and
for the Springer Book Series: Frontiers in Probability and the Statistical Sciences.
