Korakianitis G. Ioannis MD, PhD, is a teaching faculty member at the field of Microbiology at the Medical School of University of Cyprus since October 2019. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1995. In 1998 he completed a two year conscription national service as a lieutenant medical doctor in the Hellenic Army. He specialized in Microbiology and received his board certification in 2003. In 2010 he was awarded PhD degree on thesis entitled “Moxifloxacin’s post-antibiotic effect on nosocomial strains of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia”. His clinical interest includes Semen Analysis and he was further trained in In Vitro Fertilisation techniques including Sperm Analysis, Sperm preparation techniques and Semen Intrauterine Insemination. He is a member of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) and of  “Cyprus Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infections”. He has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and conference proceedings and contributed chapters in medical editions

Research activities

His scientific research concerns antimicrobial resistance, impaired fertility, diabetes, cardiac biomarkers in patients with systematic lupus erythematous and the Prognostic Role of Global Longitudinal Strain and NT-proBNP in Heart Failure Patients Receiving Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy.
