Dr. Klerides (PhD Institute of Education, University College London) is the President of the Comparative Education Society in Europe (CESE). He is an Associate Professor of Comparative Education at the University of Cyprus and an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Open University of Cyprus. Before joining the University of Cyprus he worked at the Institute of Education, University of London (as a teaching fellow), the American University of Beirut (as a research associate) and the European University Cyprus (as a lecturer). He had been a consultant for the World Bank, UNESCO (Beirut) and the Ministries of Education in Cyprus and Greece. He had also been a Visiting Scholar at the Collège de France in Paris and the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig, an Honorary Research Fellow of North-West University in South Africa and a Visiting Professor at the Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg.
The study of the impact of global and European governance institutions on the education policy of nation-states, or: the study of education from the prism of international political and economic relations; the transfer, translation and transformation of education ideas and ideals; nationalism, (neo)colonialism and education; educated identities and subjectivites; textbook theory and research.
