ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Green Park, 308
91, Aglantzias Ave.
Dr. Panayiotis Roussis is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cyprus. Prior to his current position, he held an appointment as a post-doctoral research associate (2004-2005) at the University at Buffalo and the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER) in the United States. He received a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in 1996 and an MSc from Rice University, Texas in 1999. He earned a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2004 for a dissertation on a novel uplift-restraining seismic isolation system. His research interests and contributions are in the field of earthquake engineering and structural dynamics, with a focus on the development and implementation of seismic isolation and energy dissipation systems, performance-based design, earthquake-simulator dynamic testing, and development of nonlinear dynamic analysis software. At the University of Cyprus, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of structural engineering with a focus on Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering. Dr. Roussis is the author of a number of scientific publications and reviewer for major scientific journals in the field (ASCE, Springer, Elsevier etc.). He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) and the Anti-Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi).
