From 1993 to 1999 researcher at the Center of Modern Orient Berlin. 1999-2003 researcher at the Orient Institute Istanbul. 2004 academic assistant at the University of Heidelberg. 2005 visiting professor at the University of Cyprus. 2006 Researcher at the SFB Erinnerungskulturen (Collaborative Research Center Memory Cultures), University of Giessen. Since January 2007 member of the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cyprus.
