Stylianos Papageorgiou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Cyprus. His research focuses on the political economy of finance. He has developed theoretical models studying the way political processes (such as voting, campaign contributions, or intergovernmental competition) shape financial policies (such as capital regulation, or govenrment guarantees). He has also studied the interplay between firm economic characteristics and corporate political influence. Stylianos teaches undergraduate and MBA courses in corporate finance. He also teaches an introductory course in blockchain and decentralized finance.
