Dr. María Victoria Soulé is a Lecturer in Spanish Language and Culture in the Department of French and European Studies. She holds a BA in Classical Studies from the University of Barcelona, an MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an MPhil in Spanish Applied Linguistics, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (Summa Cum Laude) from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Spain. Her primary research areas are: (a) International student mobility, focusing on study abroad and Internationalization at Home, (b) The intersection of language learning and plurilingual identities,  (c) Classroom-based research, particularly the use of Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL), and (d) Second language acquisition, with an emphasis on analyzing the morphological, syntactic, and discursive knowledge of tense and aspect among adult learners of Spanish as a second language. She has published extensively in internationally recognized journals. 

In recent years, Dr. Soulé has contributed as a researcher to EU-funded projects such as DC4LT, DE-TEL, HERO, VALIANT, and DigiTREE, as well as internationally funded projects including PAPIME (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and Language Teaching Research Jeon-ra-buk-do (South Korea Department of Education, Science, and Technology). Dr. Soulé was a Management Committee (MC) member for the COST Action Study Abroad Research in European Perspective (SAREP, 2016–2020) and is currently an MC member representing Cyprus for the COST Action European Network on International Student Mobility (ENIS) and Language Plurality in Europe’s Changing Media Sphere (PLURILINGMEDIA). She has successfully secured EU funding for projects such as TDP4HE (Transformative Digital Pedagogies for Higher Education) and served as the principal investigator of the EPOS project on Internationalisation at Home (2022–2023). Dr. Soulé is also a member of the Transnational Mobility in Education Network (TraMe).
