For the fulfillment of a Ph.D. degree the requirements are:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful completion of at least 240 ECTS units of postgraduate level coursework and research work.<\/li>\n<li>Attendance of the Postgraduate Seminar Series.<\/li>\n<li>Passing the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination.<\/li>\n<li>Completing at least one semester of Teaching Assistantship.<\/li>\n<li>Approval of the Dissertation Proposal, submitted and presented by the student.<\/li>\n<li>Successful defense of the Doctoral Dissertation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>According to University regulations, the minimum time period for completing a Ph.D. degree is three academic years. The maximum time period for completing a Ph.D. degree is eight academic years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Areas of Research<\/strong><br \/>\nResearch in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently focuses on the following areas:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Power and Renewables<\/li>\n<li>Telecommunication Systems and Networks<\/li>\n<li>Biomedical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Waves and Optics<\/li>\n<li>Intelligent Systems and Control<\/li>\n<li>Instrumentation, Sensors and Nanotechnology<\/li>\n<li>Digital Hardware Design and Embedded Systems<\/li>\n<li>Electronics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>For more information, visit the Faculty page for the research interests and activities of each faculty member.
