Professor Mamuneas studied Economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (BA. 1983). He holds an MA and a PhD in Economics from New York University (1989, 1992). Professor (2009) in Economics, Associate Professor (2001), Assistant Professor (1996) and Lecturer (1995) in the Department of Economics, University of Cyprus.  He has served as chair of the Economic Department at the University of Cyprus and as vice Dean at the School of Economics and Management. He has served on the Senate representing the latter school and also served on the Board of the Panteon University of Greece.  His research interests include   applied economics and econometrics, productivity and technological change, empirical growth with an emphasis on the effects of human capital and pollution, and the contribution of R&D and public infrastructure capital on productivity growth. He is an associated editor of the Journal of Productivity Analysis and his research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of European Economic Association, Journal of Applied Econometrics and Journal of Economic Growth. His research on infrastructure has been quoted by various journals including the well renowned Economist magazine. He has also advised the United States Government on matters related to infrastructure.
