The University of Cyprus ranked 452nd worldwide, according to the results of the QS World University Rankings 2026, announced on June 19, 2025.
According to a statement from the University, this ranking "confirms for the sixth consecutive year its steady presence among the top universities in the world." It is noted that the QS World Rankings / Top Universities organization (www.topuniversities.com) is one of the most reputable and reliable providers of information on higher education globally, and the annual QS World University Rankings is one of the three most well-known and respected global university rankings, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
As highlighted, international rankings evaluate universities based on strict criteria such as academic and employer reputation, research output and excellence, international collaboration, and teaching quality.
“The continuous presence of the University of Cyprus in all three rankings demonstrates its commitment to excellence, the quality of its research, and its international recognition,” the statement notes.
Additionally, this year’s edition of the QS World University Rankings introduces significant improvements in methodology aimed at more accurately assessing higher education institutions, including the new indicator “International Student Diversity.”
This innovation, explains the University of Cyprus, measures not only the percentage of international students but also the diversity of their nationalities, emphasizing the importance of a truly multicultural university environment.
At the same time, the expansion of the research database, which includes more than 8,000 institutions, ensures more comprehensive and representative coverage.
It is also emphasized that the University maintains a leading role in Cyprus, achieving first place in the country across all individual indicators.
