INVITATION TO SUBMIT CANDIDATES
The Faculty of Humanities announces two annual “Outstanding Community Service Awards ” of 250 euros each to be awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate student of the School of Humanities during the Faculty’s award ceremony. The awards aim to highlight the activities of the School’s students and are considered an incentive for the development of actions related to letters and community service .
Eligible are final students who combine a general average of 7.0 and above (grade up to the previous semester of studies) and, at the discretion of the Department first and then of the Faculty Council, a worthy contribution to letters and culture and/or to social issues with a humanitarian character. Evidence of such a service are considered the following:
Actions in the fields of letters and culture of Cyprus
Social and humanitarian initiatives
Publications in the area of creative writing, print or online
Participation in theatrical performances or plays and involvement in directing
Music composition and performance
Voluntary work to non-profit organizations or NGOs
Literary translation
Offering language assistance (translation, interpretation, reading) to immigrants, refugees, people with special needs
Contribution to the preservation of endangered languages of Cyprus and local traditions
The contribution to the Literature Club of the University of Cyprus or other Clubs related to the Humanities (Philosophy, Cinema, Theater Club, etc.).
It is pointed out that the activity must be exclusively voluntary, in personal time and not within the framework of the Study Program, have as its main goal personal as well as collective development and be of a certain duration.
