Cypriot and Greek Students

The Housing Office of the Service of Academic Affairs and Student Welfare manages the allocation of apartments to Cypriot and Greek undergraduate and graduate students at the Student Halls of the University.

The Student Halls are located on the new campus, in the Athalassa area. There are at present 208 single study / bedrooms with common kitchen and / or bathroom facilities.
The typology of the rooms is as follows:
TYPE OF ROOMS DESCRIPTION NUMBER OF ROOMS
A Each room has its own bathroom. It has a common kitchen for every 12 rooms. There is air condition in every room. 48
B Each room has a sink. There is common toilet and kitchen every 8 rooms. 144
C There is common toilet and kitchen every 2 rooms. Each group of two rooms composes one apartment. 12
D Rooms are of the same type of the rooms of type C. Each group of two rooms composes one apartment. They are available to persons with special needs. 4
 
Application for accommodation
Full time Cypriot and Greek students must submit their housing application form by the deadlines set by the Housing Office for each academic year: for the Cypriots in July and for Greeks in August.

All the applications are submitted to the Housing Office along with the relevant certificates within the deadlines. No applications will be accepted after the deadline. Applications without the necessary documentation will be declined.
Evaluation of applications

To be eligible for accommodation at the Students Hall, the following preconditions should be satisfied:

  • Applications, along with all the necessary documentation should be submitted within the time limits set.
  • Applicant should be a post graduate student at the time of submission of the application
  • The annual gross income of the family should not exceed €12.000
  • In case the students stayed at the Student Halls in the past, he should have fulfilled their financial obligations
The Housing Office evaluates applications based on the following criteria:
  • Financial status of the family of the interested students
  • Socio – financial problems
  • Distance of the permanent address of the family of the interested students from Nicosia

International Students
International students may contact the Housing Office for accommodation arrangements. Accommodation is offered at either single rooms in students’ apartment close to the old and new University Campus, or at the Student Halls at the new Campus.

Application for accommodation
Applications for accommodation at the Student Halls should be made each year by 15 June for the Winter Semester and 15 November for the Spring Semester.
