European Language Data Space (LDS) workshop in Cyprus, University of Cyprus, 8th of May 2025, 8:30-15:30\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The European Language Data Space (LDS) has the official mandate from the EU to establish a European platform and marketplace for the collection, creation, sharing and re-use of multilingual and multimodal language data.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the LDS, stakeholders will be able to share and monetise their language data through a single platform, fully taking EU values and compliance with EU rules into account. As a result, the LDS will significantly increase the much-needed availability of quality language data to support the creation and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and other AI-based language technology services for a range of businesses.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The objectives of the LDS workshop in Cyprus are threefold:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Introduce the LDS.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Seek engagement of Cypriot stakeholders according to the country\u2019s linguistic specificities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Establish this network of support with a strong industry-oriented focus.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The focus of the European Language Data Space (LDS) workshop in Cyprus will be put on multilingual and multimodal language data and language models, their operations and interaction through the LDS platform, while also providing a glimpse of the European scenario of Data Spaces (DS) and their implications. Topics around data may converge in the workshop, addressing technical and strategic aspects of data sharing and monetising. The collection, creation, processing, use, evaluation of LRs and LLMs will also be illustrated by concrete use cases, projects, or initiatives. Finally, the Common European Language Data Space will guide stakeholders to find and share available data, to connect with other stakeholders and establish mutually beneficial partnerships that enrich both Cypriot and European economies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The targeted audience comprises actively involved stakeholders, both data users and providers, from diverse backgrounds, with a strong focus on Cypriot private SMEs and larger companies representatives, but also from public administrations and research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
