Responsibilities of the Rector’s Office
The Rector’s Office performs administrative operations and provides services arising from the responsibilities and powers of the Rector, as the senior academic and executive officer of the University, as well as from the four-year strategic planning of the Rectorate.
In accordance with the University of Cyprus Law (1989-2019), the Rector manages the ongoing operations of the Institution, supervises its administrative services, and is responsible for ensuring the execution of the decisions of its collective governing bodies (Council, Senate and Rector’s Council), as well as of the various committees they chair, while it is also responsible for the implementation of the University policy.
The Rector’s Office is responsible for the communication and collaboration of the Rector with the University community, the State, the Cypriot society at large, as well as with the international community. Moreover, the Office manages the operations and actions relating to the representation of the University of Cyprus through its Executive Officer, with focus on achieving the university purposes, such as the substantial contribution to the social, economic, and political life of the local and international community. Furthermore, the Office provides, in a timely manner, useful information, both within and outside the Institution, thus facilitating the implementation of the decisions taken as well as of the strategic planning of the University, with the sole purpose of ensuring the orderly administrative operation of the Institution and the uninterrupted performance of its teaching and research work.
