More specifivally, it:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Approves decisions of the Rector, academic programmes, entrance and final examinations, the marking (grading) system, promotions and the award of diplomas and degrees<\/li>\n<li>Determines University requirements related to physical facilities and equipment, apportionment of the budget, and University ties with other universities and educational institutions<\/li>\n<li>Is a second-tier body of judgment and a second-tier disciplinary board<\/li>\n<li>Makes recommendations to the Council for the establishment or abolition of faculties or departments, and advises on the University&#8217; s student capacity<\/li>\n<li>It constitutes committees from amongst its members and delegates to them, on such conditions and prerequisites as it deems expedient to impose, any of its authorities<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"_mce_tagged_br\"><\/div>\n<div>The current members in the University Senate are the following:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Rector<\/strong> and the <strong>two Vice-Rectors<\/strong> of the University<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Deans of the Faculties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Three representatives from the teaching staff of each Faculty<\/strong> elected by the Board of the Faculty<\/li>\n<li><strong>One student representative for each Faculty<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Director of Administration and Finance<\/strong> (nonvoting member)<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Director of the Library<\/strong> (nonvoting member)<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/governingbodies\/senate\/senate-members\/\">Senate Members<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/governingbodies\/senate\/senate-committees\/\">Senate Committees<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/governingbodies\/senate\/decision-archive\/\">Archive of Decisions (in Greek)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/governingbodies\/forms-for-code-of-ethics-promotion-and-election-of-academic-staff\/\">Forms: Code of Ethics \u2013 Election and Promotion of Academic Staff \u2013 in Greek)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucy.ac.cy\/governingbodies\/senate\/administrative-support-senate\/\">Administrative Support &#8211; Senate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate is the highest academic body of the University and is responsible for the academic affairs of the University, both teaching and research.
