Examinations and certification (with attendance at the Greek language courses offered by the School of Modern Greek of the University of Cyprus)
To obtain Greek Proficiency Certification at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2 after attending Greek language courses at the School of Modern Greek (SMG) of the University of Cyprus, please visit our website here.
Final exams are taken only in person the week after the end of each program (December, April, August). The final exams are free of charge for the SMG students (they are included in the tuition fee package – 156 teaching hours/500 euro/per level).

Examinations and certification (without attendance at our Greek language courses)
The Greek Proficiency Certification Exams of the School of Modern Greek (SMG) are held twice a year, the third week of December and the first week of September. The exact dates will be announced in due time. The minimum number of candidates required for each level is 15.
Exam fees:
> A2 90 euro
> B1 90 euro
> B2 100 euro
> C1 100 euro
> C2 100 euro
Revision of the exams score – 60 euro
The next Greek Proficiency Certification exams of levels A2 and B1 will be held in September 2025, while of levels A2, B1, Β2, C1 and C2 will be held in December 2025. The registration process has not started yet.

General Announcement of the School of Modern Greek about the Greek Proficiency Certification Exams – SMG Announcement 31/01/2025
The certificates of the SMG (received with or without attendance at a Greek language course offered by the SMG):
Government authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, such as the Public Service Commission and the Educational Service Commission, include the B2/C1 and C2 level certificates of the SMG among the acceptable evidence of knowledge of Greek (see here and here), while the Ministry of Interior accepts the A2 and B1 level certificates of the SMG as evidence of sufficient knowledge of the Greek language for the application for obtaining Cypriot citizenship by naturalization (see here).
