A number of academics already in the Department of Business and Public Administration with experience and a record in high-quality teaching and research in subjects included in the proposed curriculum will be teaching in the program. Furthermore, these academics have long-lasting, established collaborations with research networks, among which a global network of researchers in HRM. The Department will be able to capitalize on this network to offer students the opportunity to learn from and debate with leading experts in the field of HRM.             

At the same time, the Department will bring in world renowned academics that teach and conduct state of the art research in the field of HRM to teach a number of the specialized courses for the Program. These academics will add value to the courses they teach, not only from a specialty perspective but also from a multi-cultural perspective as well. 

Finally, the Department also has established links with HRM practitioners and specifically with a network of local professionals.  These professionals are invites to lead the Program's professional workshops. They will be a valuable source in helping students translate the theories and concepts they learn into practice.

Prof. Eleni Stavrou-Costea

Eleni Stavrou-Costea is Professor at the University of Cyprus. She has taught at the George Washington University (USA) and was a founding member and the Director of Programs and Operations of the Center for Family Enterprise at the same University. She has been involved in various projects in the US, including developing a standardized pay and benefits structure for the financial division of organizations, researching the needs of the Academy of Management personnel division and designing a database to increase efficiency, and on a one-year consulting project with Tiffany & Co, New York, on human resource management needs.  

Her work has been published in various outlets, such as book chapters and conference proceedings, as well as in a number of international scientific journals, such as Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of International Business Studies, Human Resource Management, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Ethics and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.

She serves as a management organizational consultant and trainer on issues related to human resource management and family business succession.

Dr. Daina Nicolaou

Dr. Daina Nicolaou is a mentor at the Centre for Entrepreneurship of the University of Cyprus. She is also a registered ISO Quality Assessor and a certified trainer by the Human Resource Development Authority. Additionally, she has the Postgraduate Award of Professional and Academic Practice of the University of Warwick. She holds BSc in Public and Business Administration, MBA and PhD in Strategy, Marketing and Management from the Warwick Business School. 

Daina teaches Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management and Research related courses since 2003 at several institutions both in Cyprus and abroad. She has also worked for the Ministries of Labour and Social Insurance and Education and Culture, in Cyprus.

Her research on employee behaviour and performance metrics has been presented at prestigious conferences abroad.

Dr. Christiana Ierodiakonou

Dr. Christiana Ierodiakonou is an Assistant Professor of management at the University of Cyprus, teaching HRM, OB, diversity management and business communication. Her research interests include work life balance, flexible work and careers from a gender perspective.

She currently does research on social inequalities and their manifestations in the labour market and the society, exploring issues related to gender, sexuality and other aspects affecting individual working lives. She has presented her work in various international conferences and published in journals such as Human Resources Management, The International Journal of Human Resources and the British Journal of Management.

Dr. Alexia Panayiotou

Dr. Alexia Panayiotou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business and Public Administration at the University of Cyprus.  She has a Bachelor's and a Master's from Stanford University, a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and a doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard's Graduate School of Education.  Her research interests include the representation of management and organizations in popular culture; organizational space and symbolism; gender and work; feminist analysis of organizations; and visuality and organizational narratives. Her work has appeared, amongst others, in the Academy of Management Learning and EducationManagement LearningStrategic Organization, Organization, and the Journal of Management Inquiry.  Her article "Paradoxes of Change" (co-authored with G. Kassinis) received the 2016 Best Paper Award in the Academy of Management Organizational Development and Change division and was a finalist for the all-Academy Dexter Award. The TedX talk titled "Beyond a Binary World" which she gave for the 2014 Limassol event "Everything you Know is Wrong," highlights some of her research interests (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI65O8AtWjM).

Dr. Panayiotou is currently an Associate Editor of Management Learning. She has also served as Associate Editor of the European Management Review and has been on the Editorial Boards of the British Journal of Management and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. In 2017 Dr. Panayiotou was nominated by both graduate and undergraduate students for the first University of Cyprus Best Teacher award and received one of three prizes awarded. She is also currently serving on the Board of C4E, the University of Cyprus Center for Entrepreneurship.

With extensive NGO experience both in Cyprus and the US, Dr. Panayiotou remains passionate about social change. She has served as the Cyprus expert in the European Commission’s Expert Group on Gender, Employment and Social Inclusion, an independent expert for the Mutual Learning Programme of the European Employment Strategy, and as a board member of the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies. Dr. Panayiotou is a core member of the University of Cyprus Gender Studies program, where she teaches both MA and PhD students.

Dr. Panayiotou is also a one of the first 100 core members of the global network Women Waging Peace and instrumental in setting up the first battered women’s center in Cyprus and its related hotline.

Dr. George Kassinis is an Associate Professor of Strategy at the Department of Business & Public Administration of the University of Cyprus, where he teaches strategic management to graduate and undergraduate students. He was educated at Princeton University (MA, PhD), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/MIT (Master in City Planning/MCP) and Cornell University (AB and BS). His research focuses on the strategic choices organizations make in dynamic environments and the implications of these choices on competitiveness and performance.

Specific research interests include: corporate social responsibility; sustainability; corporate governance; social entrepreneurship; energy; health care management; social networks; industrial ecology. He taught at Princeton and MIT as a graduate teaching fellow, held research positions at Princeton and consulted for the World Bank and a variety of private, public-sector, and non-profit organizations, in Cyprus and abroad.

He is a founding member of the research Group on Organizations and the Natural Environment (GRONEN), serves on the editorial boards of various academic journals, chairs the Entrepreneurship Council of the University of Cyprus, and serves on the board of the Research Promotion Foundation (Cyprus). His research has been published in leading journals, including The Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Organization, The Journal of Business Ethics, The Journal of Business Research, Industrial and Corporate Change, Production and Operations Management, and in edited volumes and handbooks.

Dr. Andrie Michaelides is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Business & Public Administration of the University of Cyprus, where she teaches principles of management, organizational behavior, cross-cultural management and HRM. She was educated at Cranfield University in the UK (PhD in Management and Leadership) and Indiana University in Bloomington, USA (BSc., MBA). Her research interests include gender inequality in management positions, women in leadership, gender and career success, flexible working programs and their role in leveraging women's career advancement and sustainability. She currently researches the determinants of flexible and sustainable careers through synergies between society, organization and family and has presented her work in various international conferences in Europe and the US.

Dr. Michaelides is a Visiting Fellow of the Centre for Gender, Leadership, and Inclusion (GLIC) of Cranfield University’s School of Management. She has also been appointed Chair of the Gender in Management Track of the British Academy of Management since 2018. She currently serves as Guest Editor of a Special Issue of Gender in Management: an International Journal on Covid-19: Current Research Debates.

With extensive practitioner experience as Human Resources Director of a multinational organization for many years in Europe and the Middle East, she combines research with knowledge acquired from practice in order to contribute to pervasive issues within the field HRM.

Professor Chris Brewster has had substantial industrial experience and got his doctorate from the London School of Economics before becoming an academic. He is now a part-time Professor of International Human Resource Management at Vaasa University in Finland; Henley Business School, University of Reading in the UK; and Radboud University in the Netherlands, specializing in international and comparative HRM.

He has been in involved as author or editor in the publication of more than 30 books, more than 100 chapters in other books and well over 200 articles. He has taught, presented and consulted in many countries around the world. HE is among the most influential academics in the field.

Furthermore, he is the instructor of some of Evalion's training courses like ''Psychometric Tools'' and ''Career Guidance for teenagers and adults''.  He holds a BSc in Psychology and a MSc in Business Psychology.

Mr Stavrou is a tutor at the MSc in Business Psychology of Metropolitan College and teaches the course of Personnel Assessment & Development which covers topics like: Competency Models Design, Psychometric Tools, Structured Interviews, Assessment Centers, etc. His teaching approach is more practical, using engaging exercises from real-life scenarios.

Irene Nikandrou is Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management (HRM) at the Department of Marketing & Communication of the Athens University of Economics & Business (AUEB). Since January 2018, she is the scientific coordinator of the Career Office of the University.

She has a wide teaching experience both in the academic field and in business, where she teaches Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Positive Organizational Scholarship and Training and Development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is a member of CRANET project team in Greece and GNOSIS 2020 network. Professor Koen Dewettinck is partner, MBA director and professor of HRM at Vlerick Business School.  He obtained his Master’s in Organizational Psychology and PhD in Applied Economics at Ghent University. He has been an ICM doctoral fellow and was research fellow at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.

His main teaching and research interests are employee motivation, performance management and strategic HRM. He is also director of CEPP, the Centre for Excellence in People Performance, in which he collaborates with public and private companies. Maria Vakola is an organisational psychologist currently working as an Associate Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. Maria has published in highly esteemed academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology.

She is the co-founder of a newly created international forum for psychology of organizational change (IFPOC) aiming at bringing together researchers of this field. She joined the University of Miami in 2003 and has published in the areas of corporate governance and innovation management. Her more recent work focuses on family firms as a unique form of ownership. Nancy Papalexandris is Professor Emeritus in Human Resource Management and founder of the MSc Programme in Human Resource Management of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).  She has served as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Personnel at her University for the period 2001-2007.

She has studied Business Administration and obtained a Master’s Degree from New York University and a Ph.D. from the University of Bath in the U.K. She has taught at the undergraduate and post-graduate programs in AUEB and in various E.U. Universities. Also she conducted post-training and management development seminars in Greece and abroad. She has served as University evaluator and PhD examiner in various Universities outside Greece.
