VASSO GIANNAKOPOULOU
I was born in Athens, Greece, but I spent my early childhood in Miami, USA, as the daughter of immigrants, which offered me a solid grip of the English language and a multicultural perspective in life. Back in Greece, I graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature of the University of Athens. After long years as a freelance translator and an English language teacher in private and state education, I attained a postgraduate degree from the interdepartmental MA in Translation Studies at the University of Athens, followed by a PhD on four Greek translations of Hamlet in the 20th century. In 2012, I came to Cyprus, initially as a Visiting Lecturer and a Special Scientist and, as of 2015, as a faculty member.
