Lecture description:
Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is widely regarded as a turning point in European history. After discussing the ongoing war, the lecture reflects on the development of Europe’s security order and discusses a number of implications for the role of the EU, in particular by linking security and enlargement. The new emerging order will be shaped by confrontational elements vis-à-vis Russia but also needs to address the question of how to enhance security cooperation between EU and non-EU states while at the same time speeding up EU enlargement.
