Discussing the Fundamentals of Democracy

The field of Political Science in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus has once again been ranked in the global Shanghai Ranking. Specifically, in the 2024 rankings, Political Science is placed in the 200-300 range for this academic field.
The Shanghai Rankings of Academic Subjects annually assess each discipline based on the volume and impact of publications in high-visibility international journals and the international profile of the authors.
Despite the success of the Political Science discipline, the Department considers it important that such indicators are interpreted cautiously, taking into account various factors, including budgetary and staffing issues. This is particularly relevant as the specific ranking does not consider the number of researchers in the various disciplines of each university.
